This Privacy Policy explains what information Cyca collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Please read it carefully. By creating an account and using Cyca, you agree to the practices described here.
Important: Cyca is not end-to-end encrypted.
Your messages and calls are protected in transit, but they are not end-to-end encrypted. This means it is technically possible for us to access message content on our servers. Do not use Cyca to share secrets whose exposure would put you or others at risk.
1. Who We Are
Cyca is operated by Ocarry LLC, a company based in Webster, Texas, United States. When this policy says "we," "us," or "Cyca," it means Ocarry LLC. If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
Phone number — used to create and verify your account.
Profile information — your display name, optional profile photo, optional "about" text, and birth year (used to confirm you meet our minimum age requirement; your age is not shown to others).
Your content — the messages, photos, videos, voice notes, and status updates you send through Cyca.
Contacts
If you allow contact syncing, we upload the phone numbers and names from your device's address book to help you find people you know who use Cyca.
This includes people who are not Cyca users. When your contacts are uploaded, numbers belonging to people who have not signed up are stored so that matching works if they join later. People who are not users may contact us at [email protected] to have their number removed. Contact syncing is optional — you can decline it and still use Cyca.
Information collected automatically
Device information — device model, operating system, and app version.
IP address and approximate location — we record your IP address, which indicates your approximate (city-level) location. We do not collect precise GPS location.
Usage and activity data — information about how you use Cyca, such as when you send messages, make calls, or post status updates, including timing and frequency. This describes your activity, not the content of your messages.
Media metadata — technical details about media you send, such as file type, size, and duration.
3. How We Use Your Information
To provide and operate Cyca — delivering messages, connecting calls, syncing contacts, and showing status updates.
To verify accounts and prevent abuse, spam, and fraud.
To understand how the service is used and to improve performance and reliability.
To send you notifications about messages and calls.
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Notifications
When you receive a message or call while the app is closed, we send a push notification through Apple. The notification may include the sender's name and a preview of the message, which means Apple's systems process that information to deliver it. You can turn notifications off in your device settings or in Cyca's settings.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in these limited cases:
With other users — your profile and the content you send are shared with the people and groups you send them to.
With service providers — companies that help us operate Cyca (such as hosting and push-notification delivery), bound to protect your information.
For legal reasons — if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.
6. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Please understand:
Deleting a chat hides it only for you. Because messages are shared, the other person keeps their copy.
Deleting your account frees your phone number and removes your profile, but messages you already sent remain in other people's copies, and it does not retroactively erase activity data. Like a letter you've already sent, a message in someone else's hands stays there.
7. Your Choices and Rights
You can decline contact syncing and still use Cyca.
You can control privacy settings such as who sees your last-seen, profile photo, "about," and status.
You can block and report other users.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete your personal data — contact us at [email protected].
8. Children
Cyca is not intended for anyone under 13. We ask for your birth year during sign-up and do not allow accounts for those under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
9. Security
We protect your information in transit and take reasonable measures to safeguard our systems. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and as noted above, Cyca is not end-to-end encrypted.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you within the app or by other reasonable means. Continued use of Cyca after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
11. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, contact Ocarry LLC at [email protected].
